A special delegation from the Biden administration has arrived in Dhaka on a four-day official visit.
The delegation is led by Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Kelly M. Fay Rodriguez and Deputy Under Secretary of Labor Thea Lee.
They arrived in Dhaka on Friday morning and met with labor organization Solidarity Center to discuss working conditions and details of workers. They are also scheduled to meet with all government stakeholders.
The delegation will meet with interim government officials, private sector garment manufacturers, and labor union stakeholders. The delegation will discuss with representatives of American companies investing in the ready-made garment sector and global labor experts how to best support Bangladesh's economy, democracy, and workers.
The visit emphasizes the United States' commitment to economic development, internationally recognized labor standards, as well as sustainable growth and broadly shared prosperity.
