Battery-run rickshaw drivers are protesting by blocking the Jurain rail gate in the capital. Train services on the Dhaka-Padma Bridge route have been suspended since 11 am on Friday.
Kamalapur Station Master Anwar Hossain said, "The battery-run rickshaw drivers in the Juran area have occupied the railway line since 11 am. As a result, we have not been able to operate any trains on that line since 11 am. Rail services from Dhaka via the Padma Bridge and from Dhaka to Narayanganj have been suspended. Trains will not operate on the Padma Bridge route until the law enforcement agencies give the green signal."
Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazmun Nahar, duty officer of Shyampur Police Station, said that battery-run rickshaw drivers are occupying the railway line in the Jurain area and are carrying out a blockade program. Police members are present at the scene and trying to control the situation. The situation is somewhat normal now.
