Sacked BDR members and their families are staging a sit-in at the Shaheed Minar, demanding the fulfillment of six key demands. The protest, which began this morning, calls for the reinstatement of Sacked BDR personnel, the release of imprisoned members, and other related issues. The demonstration is organized by the BDR Welfare Council.
Faizul Alam, president of the organization, said, "Innocent detainees must be released from the mock trials related to the Pilkhana massacre. Those unjustly Sacked must be granted full government compensation, and the six demands must be implemented immediately. To press for these demands, we will continue our sit-in at the Shaheed Minar until February 13. If no positive outcome is achieved by then, we will announce stronger actions."
THE SIX DEMANDS OF DISMISSED BDR MEMBERS
- Sacked BDR members must be reinstated through the establishment of 18 special courts inside and outside Pilkhana, along with a Commanding Officer’s Summary Court. They should receive compensation and guaranteed state benefits.
- BDR members acquitted in the murder case, and who have served their sentences must be released without delay. Any politically motivated explosive cases should be dismissed.
- The commission established must operate independently and impartially, with the removal of the provision under Section 2(E) as mentioned in the notification. Furthermore, based on an independent investigation report, innocent BDR members who were unjustly sentenced should be released. The true cause of the Pilkhana massacre must be revealed, and the main conspirators and perpetrators should be identified and subjected to exemplary punishment.
- The killers of 57 army officers, 10 BDR members, and a total of 74 people martyred at Pilkhana must be brought to justice. Additionally, the exact cause of death of all BDR members who died in prison must be revealed. If any unnatural deaths occurred, those responsible must be brought to trial.
- The "BDR" name, embodying the glorious history of independence and sovereignty, must be reinstated
- A national day must be declared to honor all the martyrs of the Pilkhana massacre, and the safety of the martyrs' families must be ensured.
