BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain demanded an immediate election roadmap.
"After the quick implementation of poll-centric reforms, the election date should be fixed immediately," he said at an iftar mahfil at a city hotel.
Jatiyotabadi Jubo Dal, Swechhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal organised the iftar mahfil on Saturday.
"Once the election date is announced, the people will become election-centric. Then, people will confront all conspiracy if the fallen government hatches any of it," said Mosharraf.
He urged the interim government to hand over the state power to an elected government by holding a general election in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the state reform is an ongoing process.
"The reforms that are being done today can be reformed again later. Therefore, those who talk about long-term reforms are delaying the elections. This is unacceptable," he added.
With Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna in the chair, the event was conducted by Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and several BNP leaders also spoke on the occasion.
