Export-import activities between Bangladesh and India through the Hili land port in Dinajpur district have been suspended on the occasion of the Holi festival.
Shahinur Islam, general secretary of the Customs Agents Association (C&F) at the land port, said all operations at the port were halted on Saturday due to a public holiday in India for the Holi celebration, reports UNB.
Trade activities are set to resume on Sunday.
However, loading and unloading of goods within the Bangladeshi side of the land port continued as usual.
The suspension did not affect immigration services, as valid passport holders could still cross the border through the port from 9 am to 6:30 pm, said Ariful Islam, officer-in-charge of the Hili immigration check post.
