Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz on Saturday said that a joint operation will be conducted to shut down illegal battery-run auto-rickshaw workshops and charging stations in the capital, reports UNB.
“DMP has already listed such workshops and charging points. DNCC and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will jointly conduct the drives at night to shut these down,” he said.
The DNCC administrator came up with the information while talking to reporters after inaugurating the construction work for 20 kilometers of road, 34 kilometres of drainage and 15 kilometers of footpath in the Mirpur Pallabi area under Wards 6, 7, and 8 of the city.
He also urged the House Owners Association in different parts of the city to keep illegal rickshaws out of residential areas.
“Please don’t allow commercial activities or illegal vehicles here. With community support, we can stop unauthorized vendors and rickshaws,” he said.
Urging the residents to verify mouza maps before purchasing any plots from housing companies, the DNCC administrator said “Ensure the land is not designated as a water body. Buying such plots will lead to complications later.”
He also urged the residents to plant large trees in the upcoming monsoon instead of small saplings like Krishnachura (royal poin ciana) and Sonalu (Golden shower) to transform the Pallabi area into a lush, green space.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abu Sayeed Md Kamruzzaman, Chief Engineer Brigadier General Md Moin Uddin, Additional Chief Engineer Mohammad Arifur Rahman, Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Ziaur Rahman, Superintending Engineer Khondoker Mahbub Alam, BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit convener Aminul Haque and others were present at the event.
