Bangladesh Pratidin, the country’s highest-circulated daily, stepped into its 16th year today, reaffirming its commitment to fearless journalism.
To mark the occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was held on Friday evening in the presence of Bangladesh Pratidin team members.
Afroza Begum, a key patron of the newspaper and a director of Bashundhara Group, cut the anniversary cake, joined by Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan.
Several senior officials of Bangladesh Pratidin attended the event, including Acting Editor Abu Taher, Executive Editor Manjurul Islam, Joint Editor Mahmud Hasan, Deputy Editors Kamal Mahmud and Shimul Mahmud, Multimedia Deputy Editor Raju Ahmed, Multimedia Managing Editor Ruhul Amin Russell, News Editor Nahidul Islam, City Editor Mirza Mehdi Tamal, Chief Reporter Julker Nain Rono, Chief Photographer Abu Taher Khokon, Head of Circulation Md Billal Hossain Montu, Head of Marketing Salah Uddin Ahmed, Online In-Charge Shamsul Huq Rasel and Feature Editor Ronok Ikram. Also present was Masudur Rahman Manna, private secretary to the chairman of Bashundhara Group.
Afroza Begum took the opportunity to engage with Bangladesh Pratidin journalists and staff, extending her best wishes on the anniversary. “I hope everyone continues working with integrity and dedication to take Bangladesh Pratidin forward,” she said. “Bashundhara Group is committed to serving the country and its people, and I urge you all to uphold the same vision. Be fearless in delivering the truth and objective news.”
To commemorate the anniversary, an iftar gathering was organised on Friday at the International Convention City Bashundhara near the 300-feet expressway in Kuril, Dhaka.
Launched on 15 March 2010, Bangladesh Pratidin has consistently maintained its top position in circulation. On multiple occasions, the National Parliament of Bangladesh has recognised it as the most widely circulated daily. Alongside its print edition, the newspaper’s online platform enjoys widespread readership among Bengali-speaking audiences worldwide, with both Bengali and English versions available.
The newspaper’s multimedia wing is also rapidly gaining popularity, particularly for its video content. On this milestone, the Bangladesh Pratidin family extends its heartfelt gratitude to readers, advertisers, newspaper agents, hawkers and well-wishers for their continued support.
