26 Bangladeshi fishermen detained by the Arakan Army have been brought back. On Saturday afternoon, because of the sincerity and long-term mediation of the BGB, it was possible to bring back 26 fishermen detained by the Arakan Army of Myanmar, said Teknaf Battalion (BGB 2) Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman.
He said that 26 fishermen in different groups from Teknaf's KK Canal and Shahparir Dwip Trawler Ghat went to the Bay of Bengal by boat for fishing. When they mistakenly crossed the zero line of the Bangladesh-Myanmar border to catch fish and entered Myanmar's waters, Arakan Army members detained them along with their boats from different places for illegal intrusion.
Later, when the BGB's intervention was sought to bring back the detained fishermen, the Teknaf Battalion established effective communication with the Arakan Army and after mediation, it was possible to bring back the detained fishermen.
At the same time, a fishing boat seized by the Arakan Army for a long time has also been returned. The fishermen who were brought back to the country have been handed over to their families.
