Panchagarh bound Banglabandha Express and Dhaka bound Dhumketu Express collided at Rajshahi Railway Station on Saturday.
The accident took place near the station's wash pit, said Rajshahi Railway Station's wash pit supervisor Shahabul Islam.
However, no casualties were reported as no passengers were on board on either train, he added.
The accident occurred when one train was heading to the wash pit for cleaning while the other was standing on the same track.
Due to the collision, two bogies of each train were damaged.
Efforts are underway to clear the affected track to restore normal railway operations.
"Padma Express was scheduled to leave for Dhaka at 4:00 pm. Since three of its carriages have derailed, it will remain suspended until a relief train arrives," said Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Shahidul Alam.
