Bangladesh has ranked 14th on the list of the most corrupt countries out of 180, according to Transparency International (TI), marking its lowest score in the past 13 years. With a score of 23, Bangladesh shares this position with Congo and Iran. In the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024, the country has dropped two places, now sitting at 151st in the global ranking.
The findings were shared by TI Bangladesh at a press conference on February 11, held at the TI Bangladesh office in Dhanmondi. Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of TIB, revealed that Bangladesh's score of 23 represents its worst performance in over a decade, with the country now ranked 151st overall and 14th among the lowest-ranked nations.
In South Asia, Afghanistan holds the lowest score with just 17 points, followed by Bangladesh with the second-lowest in the region.
