An accident between a truck and two passenger buses killed three people and injured 40 more early on Monday.
The injured were identified as Jewel Ahmed, 40, Nasim Uddin, 45, and Mizanur Rahman, 32, all hailing from the Ghora Pakhia village of Chapainawabganj.
According to locals, two buses were passing in front of the Barendra University of Kharkhari in Rajshahi at around 12:30am when the first bus collided head-on with a truck. The bus fell in a ditch at the side of the road, while the truck hit the other bus next. The second bus was also damaged and caught on fire.
Passengers of the second bus got out and doused the fire. They also tried to rescue the people from the bus that fell in the ditch.
On information, locals, firefighters, and police arrived and conducted a rescue operation. The injured were sent to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Addl Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yeasmin said three people died and 40 were injured in this incident.
