A court today (February 11) showed former food minister Adv Qamrul Islam arrested in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order as police produced him before the court and ACC public prosecutor pleaded to show him arrested in the case, reports BSS.
According to the case documents, the accused has amassed illegal wealth of Taka 6.29 crore, kept those under his possession. He has also made suspicious transactions of Taka 21.18 crore through 15 bank accounts.
Adv Qamrul is accused of committing crimes under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act.
The ACC on December 23 filed the case against the former minister.
Police arrested Adv Qamrul Islam from the capital's Uttara-12 area on November 18.
