Bangladesh women team secured the first bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Games Women's Cricket Competition in Hangzhou, China on Monday.
The Bangladesh team stunned the Pakistan women team by five wickets in their Asian Games 2023 third-place match.
Earlier, winning the toss, Bangladesh sent Pakistan to bat first. The bowlers restricted Pakistan to 64/9 in 20 over.
In reply, Bangladesh women chased the target sensibly losing only five wickets in 18.2 overs. Shorna picked up three wickets for 16 runs in her quota of four overs while Sanjida Akther took two.
Aliya Riaz was Pakistan’s top-scorer with 17 runs before getting dismissed by Shorna in the final over.
Bangladesh started the chase well with a 27-run opening partnership between Shamima Sultana and Shathi Rani who both scored 13 runs each.
Coming in to bat at No 5, Shorna steered the Tigresses to victory with a calm unbeaten innings of 14 off.
