Bashundhara Shuvosangho has organised a book fair in Rangpur to inspire students to form reading habits. The fair has been held as part of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s nationwide youth festival to promote mutual respect and good mentality.
Sadakat Hossain, head of the philosophy department at Rangpur Government College, inaugurated the daylong fair at Shishukoli Pre-Cadet School, Shibram in the area on Wednesday. Shishukoli Pre-Cadet School Founding Principal Abdul Khalek Sarkar presided over the programme.
The book-loving students have expressed joy and excitement for having the daylong book fair. Immediately after the inauguration of the event, avid readers of Rangpur thronged and visited different stalls to purchase favourite books.
School teachers Anisur Rahman Anis, Golam Rabbani, Milan Mia, Shahidul Islam Saju, Mabiya Rahman, Aminul Islam, Shuvosangho General Secretary Tanjim Hasan, Literary Affairs Secretary Arnashree Ghosh, and Shuvosangho School Coordinator Golzar Rahman were present on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, Assistant Professor Sadakat Hossain said that children should be allowed to read books for their mental development.
“They will grow up and become interested in learning about their country and its great people. Children’s talent cannot develop if they spend all day watching TV and using mobile phones instead of reading books,” he said.
