The Acting Chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman said that if Sheikh Hasina is not brought to justice, future leadership will be encouraged to commit murders. Therefore, everyone must unite for the sake of justice for the genocide perpetrated by Hasina. She must be brought to trial quickly. She cannot be spared in any way.
Tarique Rahman stated that a government should be formed in Bangladesh through quick elections that meet the expectations of the people. In the coming days, the 31-point program must be implemented to fulfill the people's desires.
He also mentioned that BNP was the only party that talked about reforms in the face of Hasina's weapons; no one else was there on the ground at that time.
During a virtual speech at a public gathering held Wednesday afternoon to provide housing for the family of Feni’s Jubo Dal leader Masud, who was killed in crossfire in 2016, the speaker shared these comments.
The event, held at the Sonagazi Mohammad Saber Pilot Government High School ground in Feni, also offered financial assistance to nearly fifty families from the greater Noakhali area who had lost members during previous political movements.
The event was organized by ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ and was chaired by the organization’s convener, Atikur Rahman Ruman. The chief advisor of the organization and BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, along with Barkatullah Bulbul, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Zainul Abedin Faruk, Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and Rehana Akhter Ranu, also spoke at the event.
Tarique Rahman said, "We were able to free the country from autocracy due to the sacrifices of thousands of people. However, those involved in murders over the past 16 years must be brought to justice."
He also stated that if any conspiracy is carried out under the guise of reforms, it will create unrest in the country.
"The sooner a people's government is established, the sooner Bangladesh will walk on the right path." He added, "Currently, many henchmen have infiltrated our ranks and are creating confusion with their scheming plans."
Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "The advisers today are seeing certain individuals as enemies. Hasina's allies are still hiding within the government. It is astonishing that government officials are distributing leaflets for Hasina. Such audacity is unbelievable. The responsibility lies with the current government."
BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu said, "We have come to Tarique Rahman's maternal grandfather's house, not as guests, but as visitors."
He added, "The involvement of students in political parties is uncomfortable."
Addressing the government, he said, "Make minimal reforms and allow the opportunity for elections." He further stated, "You have become advisers on the sweat, blood, and efforts of BNP over the past 17 years."
Abdul Awal Mintoo said, "We are waiting for Tarique Rahman. Under Hasina's government, at least three hundred people have been killed in Feni alone. All these murders must be brought to justice."
Zainul Abedin Faruq said, "Tarique Rahman was the main force behind the movement in July and August. Those who now want to forgive Hasina are the same people who rehabilitated her in the past."
