Members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho have held a campaign in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district to remove treenails, illegal banners and festoons from the trunks of roadside trees.
During the campaign, they removed treenails, unauthorised banners, billboards, and festoons that were displayed on both sides of the road from Pathanpara to the intersection of Matrai-Moslemganj road in the vicinity on Wednesday.
Shuvosangho members also talked to the locals to inspire them to avoid unnecessary treenails on the trees.
Khetlal upazila nirbahi officer Al Zinat and forest officer Matiyor Rahman have expressed solidarity with the initiative of Shuvosangho.
Shuvosangho Joypurhat unit president Russell Ahmed said that some people and organisations are violating laws by placing advertisements on trees.
Shuvosangho local unit vice-president Rabbiul Hasan Jinna, joint secretary Nazmul Islam, publicity secretary Mehedi Hasan, and executive members Mohsin Habib and Jahad Hasan were, among others, present during the campaign.
Mentionable, the number of incidents of displaying billboards, festoons, and banners of various political parties and organisations by nailing those to trees is increasing each day in the area.
