Shanta Haldar, a talented yet poor student of Agailjhara Govt Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Degree College, had no food at home. She and her mother, Kajoli Haldar, were perturbed about how she could take part in her HSC exams on an empty stomach.
Upon hearing about their plight, Bashundhara Shuvosangho—a humanitarian initiative of Bashundhara Group—arrived at Shanta's home on 30 June 2024 with essential foods. Sustained by the food provided by Bashundhara Shuvosangho, Shanta completed her exams and achieved a GPA-4.92 in the science division.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho has now taken on the responsibility of supporting her education, inspiring Shanta to dream of becoming a doctor.
Shanta Haldar is from Kathira village of Gaila Union of Agailjhara Upazila under Barisal District.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho once again provided food items to Shanta’s family on Wednesday at the Agailjhara office for a month. These foods—including rice, flour, lentils, oil, salt, biscuits, soap, and pens—were handed over to Shanta and her mother by Bashundhara Shuvosangho adviser SM Omar Ali Sani.
General Secretary of Agailjhara Upazila NGO Coordination Council Kajol Das Gupta, Assistant Vice President of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Agailjhara unit Samiran Roy and Organisational Secretary Sabik Khan, along with members Chayon Haldar and Rashedul Islam were also present.
