The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have announced a roadmap for holding the much-expected election to the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), reports BSS.
According to the roadmap, the Election Commission (EC) is expected to be constituted by mid of May while the voter’s list would be published by next month.
Later, the election commission would announce the schedule of the polls, said a DU press release on Tuesday.
Besides, preparations are on to hold the election in a fair and participatory manner as the authorities believe that DUCSU is a fundamental part of the university’s administration and the students are long been awaiting to see he DUCSU polls.
“The university authorities have been discussing with the stakeholders regarding the DUCSU polls since December last year.
Since then, the administration has been actively engaging with various parties to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.
As part of this effort, a detailed roadmap outlining the steps and progress made so far,” the release said.
A revised draft of the DUCSU constitution has been finalized and sent to student organizations following six meetings. The revised constitution is currently awaiting for getting approval from the university syndicate, it adds.
Moreover, a 'DUCSU Election Code of Conduct Review Committee' was formed in January this year. The committee has held seven meetings and finalized its recommendations, which are also pending for syndicate approval.
