Bashundhara Shuvosangho activists have organised a day-long event in Gaibandha, featuring several entertaining events, including a funny debate competition, creating games, a catwalk and body language game, cultural performances, raffle draw and the traditional Churui Bhati (picnic).
The event took place at a garden house in Phaliya area, just beside the Gaibandha-Balashi Road, on the outskirts of the district town on Monday.
In addition to the Shuvosangho members, cultural activists, musicians and members of various social organisations participated in the events, all set against the backdrop of the area’s captivating natural beauty.
The day-long event began at 11 am with a collective reflection of patriotic songs. The members of the Shuvosangho were divided into three teams and participated in a funny debate on the topic ‘The world would not be beautiful without women.”
The debate competition featured four teams, with the judging panel comprising Shahnaz Begum Shanu, general secretary of Gaibandha Shuvosangho, dancer Rashed Taqi Rasu and singer Laila Tajnur Saudi.
The role of moderator was carried out by Humayun Ahmed Biplob, president of Gaibandha Shuvosangho. During the lively competition, the audience erupted in applause enjoying the debates.
Tanha Tasfiya Purnota, Rafia Rashid Ritu, Ayon Das, Yasir Arafat, Arpon Sarkar Jit and Hriday Sarkar took part in the final round and team leader Purnota won the event.
Twenty competitors took part in the Creative Games and Catwalk events. The audience burst into laughter at the participants amusing their gestures and performances.
During a break before the traditional Churui Bhati, several speakers shared their thoughts on joy and creativity, including artist Shirin Akter, Riktu Prasad, general secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Amitabh Das Himon, district correspondent of Kaler Kantho, and others.
Later a musical performance began, featuring artists Laila Tajnur Saudi, Shirin Akter, Arpon Sarkar Jit, Alif, SM Shadhin and Manik Barman. The audience joyfully joined in songs and dances along with the performers.
Singer Laila Tajnur Saudi said it was an exceptional day spent competing with young friends. This event organised by Bashundhara Shuvosangho will be remembered for a long time.
Shirin Akter said, “The surrounding greenery and beauty of the programme venue filled my heart with joy. I had planned to recite a poem, but in the end, I ended up singing folk songs. Shuvosangho is something truly unique. I would love to come back every time they call me.”
Riktu Prasad said, “I have seen the organising skills of Shuvosangho friends in the past, but today I couldn’t even realise how the time flew by from morning to evening.”
President of Shuvosangho, Humayun Ahmed Biplob said the central committee of the social welfare platform has extended full support to arrange the event for its friends in Gaibandha.
The success of the event was also attributed to special contributors Ahsan Azim, Pradhan Naim, Ahsania Tasnim Snigdha, Soikat Pradhan, Aladin Alif, Barnon Prasad, Ritu Sarkar, Meghlina Duti, Liza Sarkar, Roxi Sarkar and others.
