Bashundhara Shuvosangho has been supporting underprivileged groups from different segments of society. While supporting rural communities in remote areas for months, the welfare organisation has also been bolstering its focus on the urban poor.
Selina Begum, a domestic help working in the capital’s Kafrul area, is among the lucky beneficiaries of Shuvosangho’s urban poor support programmes.
On Tuesday, the organisation’s Kafrul unit donated essential food items including rice, lentil, edible oil, flour and potatoes for the poverty-stricken family of Selina, much to her delight. She expressed her gratitude to Shuvosangho, upon receiving the donation.
Notably, Selina is the only breadwinner of her family. Her family is incapable of working. Striving to support her husband and children, many a time she cannot enjoy three meals a day.
At the donation handover event, Bashundhara Shuvosangho members told reporters that the organisation is committed to welfare of the helpless, destitute and low-income people of the society.
