Bashundhara Shuvosangho hosted a seminar on harmful plastics and the society’s role in avoiding these at the hall room of Patuakhali Government Mahila College on Sunday.
At the seminar, college Principal Professor Md Modasser Billah, also the chief adviser to Shuvosangho’s college unit, said that if the students and teachers become conscious, they can keep the college campus free from the impact of harmful plastics.
The principal administered an oath to the participating students in which they pledged to put an end to the use and existence of harmful plastics on the campus.
The students also pledged to avoid using polythene bags at markets.
In his speech, the principal also said that there is no alternative to students in taking Bangladesh forward.
Afroza Akter, Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s college unit president, said everyone must become conscious against the use of harmful plastics.
She elaborated on the harmful effects of different types of plastics, and their different recyclability ratings.
The event was also attended by, Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s college unit adviser Assistant Professor Md Hasan Mia, Assistant Professor Mohammad Rashidul Hasan, Assistant Professor Daliya Sultana, and Lecturer Jannatul Mawa Mousumi.
Also present were, the welfare organisation’s college unit General Secretary Diba Das, Organising Secretary Tuli Akter, Assistant Sports Affairs Secretary Othoi and Assistant Office Secretary Heer, among others.
