After the fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, Hasan Mahmud, the fugitive Joint General Secretary of the Awami League and former Foreign Minister, was seen in public at an Eid prayer gathering in London.
On Sunday, local time, he offered Eid prayers at the Al-Kalam Mosque in the Gants Hill area of London.
Since the fall of the autocrat Awami League government on August 5 due to a student-led mass uprising, Hasan Mahmud had not been seen in public.
There were rumors that he had been in Belgium. However, after offering Eid prayers in London, he was seen exchanging greetings with acquaintances. Several photos of this event have been circulating on social media.
In one of the photos, Hasan Mahmud is seen hugging Syed Faruk, the General Secretary of the Awami League in the UK. In another photo, he is with journalist Syed Anas Pasha, Anas Pasha's son ITV journalist Mahathir Pasha, and two other teenagers.
Regarding the identity of the two teenagers, journalist Syed Anas Pasha told the media, "One of the boys on Hasan Mahmud's right is probably his son, and the other is his nephew."
Anas Pasha also mentioned that Hasan Mahmud had been living in Belgium and came to London to celebrate Eid with his son, who is studying there.
Syed Anas Pasha added, "Syed Faruk, the General Secretary of the Awami League in the UK, is my uncle, and we live in the same area in London. After the prayer, he introduced me to Hasan Mahmud."
