Members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) will have to leave the group if they wish to join the upcoming youth-led political party, ADSM Co-coordinator Rifat Rashid said at a press conference held late night on Wednesday.
The press conference was held to announce the formation of the full-fledged private university wing of ADSM.
Rifat Rashid said ADSM would never become a political party or organisation but would continue to work for the improvement of the country’s political landscape.
At the press conference, four top leaders of ADSM's combined private university wing were introduced to the media.
The wing’s convener is MJH Manju, Member Secretary Atik Shahriar, Chief Organiser Omar Faruk, and Spokesperson Sabina. They have been elected by students from 65 private universities.
In July last year, at least 35 private university students were martyred during the uprising against dictator Sheikh Hasina.
At the press meet, MJH Manju said private university students took part not only in the anti-quota movement in July but also in several other notable anti-fascist movements during the reign of Awami League.
