Education Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud has urged students to bring their legitimate demands to him instead of resorting to road blockades.
“Come to me with your legitimate demands and those demands will be fulfilled,” said the adviser
He made the remarks on Monday while speaking to reporters after the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Dr. Muhammad Yunus. On the day, ECNEC approved five projects.
When asked about the frequent protests by students in Dhaka and their impact on public life, the Education Adviser responded, "It has been mentioned repeatedly that workers and students are protesting. It's not just students; many organizations are holding protests in Dhaka city. They are blocking roads. How can these issues be resolved? I cannot solve them alone."
He added, "Many demands have already subsided because we have assured them that these are legitimate demands, and we will address them. However, some demands are not reasonable, and we cannot accept them. Despite making unreasonable demands, some are blocking railways and attacking passengers. If such actions continue, the public will turn against them, which puts us at an advantage."
Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud further noted, "Those who put people in distress with their unreasonable demands will be resisted by the public themselves."
