A Dhaka court on Monday showed former Narsingdi-3 lawmaker Md Shirajul Islam Mollah arrested in a case filed over murder of an electrician named Shamim Hawlader in the capital's Mohammadpur area during the recent mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman passed the order as police produced Shirajul before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case.
The court later sent the accused to jail.
Shirajul Islam Mollah was arrested from the capital's Asad Gate area on November 11.
According to the case statement, Shamim Hawlader got shot in the Mohammadpur Beribadh area on July 20 as he was taking part in the anti-discrimination movement. He was rushed to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Shamim's cousin Jakir Hossain later filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
