The government is firmly committed to safeguarding the best interests of Hajj pilgrims, stated A.F.M. Khalid Hossain, Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
On Sunday, during a meeting with Saudi Arabian Ambassador Essa Yousef Essa Al Duhailan at his office, the adviser emphasized the government’s dedication to improving Hajj management. He assured that under the current administration, Hajj operations would be more organized and efficient than ever before.
Highlighting recent achievements, the adviser noted that proactive government measures have led to a significant reduction in airfare costs, saving pilgrims approximately 27,000 BDT this year. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to streamline the Hajj registration process and sought the ambassador's cooperation in allocating a quota of 250 pilgrims per Moazzem visa issued to agencies.
The meeting also addressed broader bilateral issues, including improving pilgrim transportation, enhancing Mecca-bound route services, establishing an Arabic language institute in Dhaka, and constructing eight iconic mosques in Bangladesh. Discussions also focused on strategies for strengthening ties between the two countries in the future.
Religious Secretary A.K.M. Aftab Hossain Pramanik, Additional Secretary of the Hajj Division Md. Matiul Islam, Joint Secretary Dr. Monjurul Haque, and the Religious Adviser’s Private Secretary Sadek Ahmad were also present at the meeting.
