Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Rongdhanu Group director and former vice-chairman of Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila parishad, was arrested by the law enforcement agency on Tuesday.
A team of detective branch (DB) carried out a raid in Bhatara area of Dhaka this noon and arrested Mizan.
Later, the law enforcers took him to the DB office.
According to the DB, Mizan is accused in 13 cases including killing students and people during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Mizanur Rahman was also the cashier of former RAB chief Benazir Ahmed. He used to supervise the properties of the former elite force boss and aide of Benazir's illegal activities. Mizan had received all extortion money collected in the name of Benazir.
