The deadline for government employees to submit their asset declarations has been extended until December 31, according to Senior Secretary Mukhles Ur Rahman. He made the announcement during a press briefing at the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday.
The Senior Secretary announced that a decision has been made to extend the deadline, and a formal notification will be issued in this regard shortly.
In previous years, financial statements were required to be submitted by December 31st. However, this year, the Ministry of Public Administration had set the deadline for November 30th.
In an effort to combat corruption, the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979, which were amended in 2002, mandated that government employees submit asset declarations every five years. Following the appointment of the interim government, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a press release on September 1, directing all government employees to submit their asset declarations.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by one month. Taxpayers now have until December 31 to submit their returns, instead of the original deadline of November 30. The extension comes after requests from businessmen and taxpayers seeking more time.
