A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's energy adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury on four-day remand in a case filed over the murder of one Sumon Shikder in capital’s Badda area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order as police produced Tawfiq before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand.
Earlier on Tuesday, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury from capital’s Gulshan area.
Sumon Shikder, 31, was killed in police firing beside Fuji Tower in Badda area on July 19.
Later, his mother Masuma Begum registered a murder case against 179, including Sheikh Hasina.
