The leaders of BNP and all its associate bodies have been asked to avoid all sorts of motorcade during their organizational visits considering that it causes public sufferings, UNB reports.
BNP issued this instruction Monday in a notice signed by its senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“The leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP, and its all affiliated and associate bodies will have to avoid all sorts of motorcades through motorcycles, cars or other vehicles while traveling for the purpose of organizational works in any subordinate unit of the party. All these motorcades cause terrible disruption to the passing vehicles of common people and movement of pedestrians,” said BNP.
It condemned the use of motorcades for senior leaders that create severe traffic congestion, causing severe public suffering just to join an organizational meeting, or a meeting of party workers or even a public rally, it said.
The party also asked its leaders and activists to refrain from displaying posters, banners and festoons with their own portraits, terming it untoward and signaling its willingness to respond to a desire among the populace for a new brand of politics.
“It is unexpected and goes against the party’s discipline. Some overenthusiastic leaders of the party published posters and hanged festoons and banners with their portraits,” said BNP.
