A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a contempt of court petition with the High Court against three former chief justices and four former judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court for punishing him in a case in October, 2020.
Advocate Yunus Ali Akand of the Supreme Court filed the petition in the relevant branch of the High Court on Wednesday, Daily Sun reports.
The three former Chief Justices are -- Syed Mahmud Hossain, Hasan Foez Siddique and Obaidul Hasan.
Besides, four other former judges of the Appellate Division are Syed Iman Ali, Mirza Hussain Haider, Abu Bakar Siddiqui and Mohammad Nuruzzaman.
The plaintiff alleged that on September 27, 2020, judges abused their power and punished Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand without allowing him the opportunity of self-defense, a clear violation of the law of contempt of court. At that time he was banned from handling cases for three months.
