Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former Natore-2 MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul, and 109 others have been sued in a case filed over kidnapping and murder of a student during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Natore, reports UNB.
Fazer Ali, father of the deceased student Yasin Islam, who was allegedly abducted and murdered on August 4, filed the case at Natore Sadar Police Station. Officer-in-Charge of the police station, Krishna Mohan Sarkar, confirmed the matter.
Other accused in the case include Sadar Upazila Chairman and General Secretary of the district Awami League Shariful Islam Ramzan, Sadar Municipality Mayor Uma Chowdhury Jolly, and district Awami League President Sirajul Islam, among others.
The plaintiff alleged that during the student-led movement, Yasin was forcefully taken from Madrasa Mor in Natore town, beaten, and held captive at Shimul's residence. The following day, the residence was set ablaze, and Yasin’s body was later recovered from the charred remains.
Legal procedures would follow as necessary, added the OC.
