National Quran recitation contest titled “Quraner Noor” began in Barishal on Monday.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee organised the mega Islamic reality show Hifzul Quran with support of the Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country.
After Sylhet, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Faridpur and Khulna, audition round started in Barishal.
Hailing from six districts, little Hafezes flocked to Darsul Quran Academy in Barishal for registration and audition.
Md Mahfuz who achieved the status of Hafez by memorising Quran within seven months hit the audition.
Attention of everybody was drawn to him being exceptionally talented.
Mahfuz came from Baldia village of Swarupkathi upazila of Pirojpur district.
The contest will take place in Dhaka (north) on February 22 and Dhaka (south) February 23, reports Daily Sun.
A total of 30 Hafezes will be primarily selected for the competition. Of them, 10 will be selected later. Only three out of the 10 will get the opportunity to compete for the title in Dhaka.
The first prize winner of the competition will win a prize money Tk 10 lakh while the Second Prize Money Tk 7 lakh, third Tk 5 lakh, and the fourth and fifth Tk 2 lakh each.
The first prize winner of the show, along with the prize money, will get the chance to perform Umrah with his family and teachers.
