The death toll from fire at an apartment block in Gulshan-2 on Sunday increased to 2 as another victim died on Monday morning, reports UNB.
Raju Mia Shikder, who sustained injuries during the fire incident, died at a hospital in the capital, said Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Abdul Ahad.
The fire that quickly tore through the apartment block Sunday evening was brought under control after four hours.
Anwar Hossain, who used to work in the 12- storeyed building, was killed after the deadly fire engulfed it. 22 people including nine men, 12 women, and one child were rescued in the incident.
“The fire broke out on the seventh floor of a 12-storey building in Gulshan-2 at 6:59pm. However, the reasons for the fire mishap and the extent of damage wasn’t immediately confirmed,” Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell, said.
