The national Quran recitation contest titled “Quraner Noor” started in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions on Tuesday.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee organised the mega Islamic reality show with support of the Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country.
After Sylhet and Cumilla regions, the national Hifzul Quran competition 2023 started in Rajshahi and Rangpur, reports Daily Sun.
Hailing from various parts of Rajshahi, little contestants flocked to Shaheed AHM Kamruzzaman Auditorium in the divisional headquarters.
Registration of the contestants began in six booths at 10:00 am.
Talking to journalists, Md Wabaidul Haque, teacher of Bhulta Ulum Hafizia and Qawmi Noorani Madrasah in Bogura, said “I have brought 18 students from my madrasah for the contest. The participants are duly groomed for the purpose.”
He thanked the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group for organising the holy Quran recitation contest.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Pesh Imam Shaikhul Hadith Mufti Mahiuddin Kashem said 30 contestants will qualify for primary scanning from Rajshahi and be reduced to 10. Of them, three will be shortlisted vying in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, audition started in eight districts of Rangpur division amid much enthusiasm among participants.
Since morning, the little hafizes started to gather at the Zila Parishad premises to take part in the contest.
Lauding initiative of the Bashundhara Group, Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Hafiz Mufti Mizanur Rahman said the contest will help spread light of Quran everywhere.
