A total of 11 crore 90 lakh and 158 voters are currently existing in the country, reports BSS.
Increased by 57 lakh 74 thousand and 148, the present voters is 11 crore 90 lakh and 158 and the voter increase rate is 5.10 per cent, said Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Jahangir Alam in a press conference at his office in Dhaka on Sunday.
The EC secretary said that among them, about 6 crore 3 lakh 83 thousand 112 are male voters while 5 crore 86 lakh 77 thousand 209 women voters and 837 third-gender voters.
Total voters as of March 2 in 2022 were 11 crore 32 lakh 87 thousand 10.
Of them, 5 crore 76 lakh 89 thousand 529 were male voters while women voters were 5 crore 55 lakh 97 thousand 27 and the number of third-gender voters was 454.
The number of voters included in the updated voter-list in 2022 was 78 lakh 83 thousand 277 people. Among them, 40 lakh 72 thousand 455 and 39 lakh 10 thousand 439 were men and women respectively. The number of third gender voters was 383.
The number of excluded-voters in the updated voter list of that year was 22 lakh 9 thousand 129. Among them, 13 lakh 78 thousand 872 were male while 8 lakh 30 thousand and 257 were women.
EC completed data collection and registration in four stages from May 20 to November 20 last year.
The updated draft list was released as per the pre-announced time on January 15.
It has been displayed at various public places so that anyone could get the opportunity to correct it if there is any mistake.
In that case, the last time to apply for claims, objections or corrections is January 31 which means a person is getting 16 day time-frame for his or her claim, objection or correction.
The revising authority will dispose of the petition or application by February 7. The updated final list will be published on March 2 after disposal of applications.
