The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lauded Bangladesh for its proactive economic management amid the coronavirus pandemic, reports BSS.
Quoting the IMF Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, Bangladesh Bank (BB) Spokesperson Mezbaul Haque today said this after a meeting with IMF at the central bank headquarters in the city.
A four-member IMF delegation, including its DMD Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, had a meeting with BB senior officials. BB Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder attended the meeting.
The IMF team arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a five-day visit.
Mezbaul Haque said the issues of discussion at the meeting included challenges to be faced in the upcoming monetary policy.
He said the meeting also discussed several issues including climate financing from the IMF.
The issues of capacity building faced by the government and the Bangladesh Bank were also discussed, he added.
According to Finance Ministry sources, Sayeh came to Dhaka from Delhi after completing her Indian visit.
