5 killed, 3 hurt as train hits auto-rickshaw in Tangail

Five persons including a child were killed and three others injured as a train rammed into an auto-rickshaw at Depakandi level crossing in Tangail’s Bhuapur upazila Wednesday morning.  

The identities of the victims could not be known immediately after the accident.

Police said the accident occurred at Depakandi level crossing on Bhuapur-Tarakandi rail line of the upazila at about 11:30 am, leaving four people of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.

Faridul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bhuapur Police Station, confirmed the matter to media.

The injured were first taken to Upazila Health Complex where the child succumbed to his injuries and rests three injured were shifted to Tangail General Hospital.

The auto-rickshaw was going to Folda Bazar from Bhuapur.
