Shuvosangho, the forum of readers and well-wishers of The Daily Kaler Kantho, on Saturday distributed blankets to underprivileged children in slum area near Gaibandha rail station. In addition, they’ve distributed blankets to 175 orphan children, minorities and ultra-poor people in Dhamairhat of Naogaon.
The children like Patal, 5, Ankhi, 8, Sharifa, 6, Nur Alam, 12, Bokul, 8, who live in the slums of Gaibandha, were delighted upon receiving the warm blankets. They’ve been suffering from cold weather due to living in shabby slum. However, they’re delighted to have the solution to it.
The Gaibandha correspondent said 30 children were waiting at rail station of the city with their mothers and grandmothers after hearing the news of blanket distribution. Chief advisor of Shuvosongho, poet and little magazine editor Sharoj Deb and members of Shuvosangho distributed the blankets to the children.
About the initiative, Sharoj Deb said, “Shuvosangho stood beside the helpless children just at right time as very few people stand beside them in hard time.”
According to Shuvosangho president Humayun Ahmed Biplob and general secretary Atiqur Rahman Atiq, Gaibandha branch of Shuvosangho took 4-day initiative marking the occasion of 13th anniversary of Kaler Kantho. Their other programs include setting up garbage bin in the campus of Gaibandha Government College, holding art competition for the children and arranging colorful procession on the day of anniversary.
Dhamairhat correspondent said Dhamairhat branch of Shuvosangho distributed blankets to 175 orphan children of Nurani and Hafezia Madrasa, minorities and ultra-poor people. With the assistance of expatriate Md Mehedi Hasan, hailed from Nanaich village of Dhamaihat uapazila, the members of Dhamaihat Shuvosangho distributed the blankets door to door.
Health camp in remote char of Galachipa
Patuakhali correspondent said Kaler Kantho Shuvosangho took initiative for the welfare of people of remote island Charbangla under Charbiswas union of Galachipa who are deprived of health facilities. Marking the initiative, a discussion meeting was held on Saturday in Charbangla Bazar, where the Charbiswas union president committee president of Shuvosangho, Md Mizanur Rahman and other respected personalities were present.
