Two cargo ships carrying 23,000 tonnes of Myanmar rice and 7,500 tonnes of Indian rice reached the Chattogram and Mongla seaports respectively on Friday.
Rice from Myanmar has been imported under a government-to-government trade agreement, while the Indian rice has been imported through open bidding processes.
Under the open bidding mechanism, the country is set to import another two consignments of Indian rice. Two ships carrying 8,500-tonne rice and 10,000-tonne rice would reach Mongla port on Saturday and Sunday.
