Jewellers have lowered the price of gold by Tk1,365 to Tk1,42,161 per bhori (11.664 grams) amid a tariff drop on pure gold.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Monday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk12,188 per gram, while it is Tk11,634 for 21-carat gold, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,972 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk8,194 a gram.
New tariffs will come into effect on Tuesday, the release added.
Prices of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk235 per gram, 21-carat Tk225, 18-carat Tk192, and traditional silver Tk144 a gram.
