Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Tuesday said the price of sugar will decrease within a day or two.
New prices of sugar will be fixed. And actions will be taken against those who will sell sugar beyond the fixed price, he said.
The minister came up with the assertion while addressing an event at National Press Club in the capital.
Tipu Munshi said, “Sugar price will not increase further. Rather, the price will decrease. After fulfilling all criteria, the Trade and Tariff Commission fixed a price. We are knowledgeable regarding the excessive price of sugar in the market than prices fixed by us. We have given instructions to the Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection and administration so that they can take action against those who are selling sugar at high prices or will sell sugar at excessive price.”
