Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk2,939 to Tk1,37,449 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Tuesday (November 19).
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk1,37,449 per bhori, and 21-carat Tk1,31,197 per bhori, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
On the other hand, the price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,12,453 per bhori while that of traditional gold at Tk92,286 per bhori.
New tariffs would come into effect on Wednesday (November 20).
However, prices of silver remained unchanged, it added.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk2,578 per bhori, 21-carat Tk2,449, 18-carat Tk2,111 per bhori, and traditional one is Tk1,586 per bhori.
