The newly elected Managing Committee of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Monday.
Members of the JPC Managing Committee led by its President Farida Yeasmin and Secretary Shyamol Dutta placed a floral wreath at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu.
JPC vice president Rejwanul Haque Raja, joint general secretaries Ayub Bhuiyan and Ashraf Ali, treasurer Shahed Chowdhury, members Farid Hossain, Kazi Rownak Hossain, Shahnaj Siddiqui Soma, Kallyan Saha and Zulhas Alam and other senior journalists were present, reports BSS.
The JPC leaders stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of Bangladesh's Independence.
Later, a special doa, seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation, was also offered.
Farida Yeasmin and Shyamol Dutta signed the visitors' book there.
