Two persons including a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver were killed in a road accident in the city's Shanir Akhra area under Jatrabari Police Station in the capital early on Friday.
The deceased are identified as CNG-driver Mohammad Momin Mia, 38, and fish trader Polash Sheikh, 48.
The accident occurred when a speedy CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a standing truck in front of Daniya College in the area around 5am, leaving four passengers including the driver critically injured, said M Salman, sub-inspector of the Jatrabari Police Station.
Later, the wounded were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctors declared Momin and Polash dead, he added.
The condition of other two injured passengers--Shah Ali and Sumon-- are also remaining in critical stage, said the physician.
After the accident, police failed to seize the truck as its driver managed to flee the scene, the SI mentioned.
