The Dhaka Metro Rail has been opened for general passengers on Thursday morning, a day after its inauguration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Metro rail service will run on Agargaon to Uttara and Uttara to Agargaon routes from 8am from today.
Since morning, hundreds of passengers gathered at Agargaon station with enthusiasm to take the service on the first day.
The 11.73km Uttara-Agargaon section of Metrorail opened on Wednesday with nine stations. After the full opening, expected in December 2023, people will be able to travel from Uttara to Motijheel in 40 minutes.
