Shia community people in Old Dhaka brought out a traditional Tajia procession in the capital on Tuesday from Hussaini Dalan marking holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain Ibn Ali (RA).
The procession started at 10am from Lalbagh amid tight security and is scheduled to end at Dhanmondi parading Azimpur and the New Market area.
Hussaini Dalan Imambara managing committee member Mir Zulfiqar Ali said Tajia procession was limited in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year, they are celebrating the day with festivity.
Hundreds of people of the Shia community attended the Tajia procession.
