Bashundhara Kings Football Academy has begun its journey with a non-residential professional training programme at the Bashundhara Sports Complex in the capital on Saturday.
Bashundhara Kings stepped on the path to fulfill another dream through this academy ensuring all modern facilities in the top-level football.
A group of children and teenagers appeared at the practice ground of Bashundhara Kings in the inaugural ceremony ignoring the rain. The goal of the academy is to make them future stars. All of them came with their parents to show their skills and expertise at their dream Bashundhara Kings Academy.
Bashundhara Kings Football Academy is launching with about 70 members in three age-based categories (6-11, 11-15 and 15-18 years). Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan was overwhelmed to see such joy of children and teenagers.
“It is not a full-fledged academy now, just a beginning. It is now non-residential but we will turn it to residential within the next six months to one year as we got a huge response for a residential facility,” he told reporters in an inaugural programme at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
Imrul said, “We believe that the youngsters of this camp will get chances in the Bashundhara Kings main team. We also have a plan to provide free training to the talented booters and keep them in the camp for the long term.”
“We will launch a talent hunt programme across eight divisional cities. The talented footballers will get full free training in our academy. We will also provide them residential facilities when we turn it into a residential academy,” he added.
Imrul Hassan further said the training sessions will be run by the Kings’ decorated coaching panel at the turfs of the Bashundhara Sports Complex; even their head coach, Valeriu Tita, is also expecting to do some sessions with young budding talents. The sessions will be held three days a week.
Bashundhara Kings Academy will be the only club in the country to provide practice facilities on international standard grounds. Besides, this academy will work to improve the quality of players in association with various international clubs, he continued.
In the beginning, one has to spend Tk 10,000 for admission while the monthly salary will be Tk 6,000. However, talented players from poor families will be given free training.
