The Under-19 Asia Cup is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates this month. Bangladesh has selected a 14-member squad with Azizul Hakim Tamim as the captain.
The Bangladesh U-19 team flew to the Middle Eastern country on Sunday morning (November 24) to participate in the tournament. Before leaving the country, captain Tamim expressed his team’s ambition to win both the upcoming Asia Cup and the Youth World Cup.
Earlier, the Bangladesh U-19 team held an official photoshoot. Following that, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim spoke to the media. Bangladesh is the current champion of the tournament, and Tamim expressed optimism about retaining the title, saying, "We are the reigning champions. Our team includes five players who won the previous Asia Cup. We are very confident that we can win the title again."
Last Thursday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 14-member U-19 squad.
Bangladesh is placed in Group A of this year’s Under-19 Asia Cup, where they will face Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal. Meanwhile, Group B consists of India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan. Bangladesh will play Afghanistan in their opening match on the first day of the tournament. Tamim's team will face Nepal in their second match on December 1, and conclude the group stage against Sri Lanka on December 3.
