Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk2,823 to Tk1,42,266 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Saturday (November 23).
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk1,42,266 per bhori, and 21-carat Tk1,35,804 per bhori, read a press release.
On the other hand, the price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,16,395 per bhori while that of traditional gold at Tk95,645 per bhori.
New tariffs would come into effect on Sunday (November 24).
However, prices of silver remained unchanged, it added.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk2,578 per bhori, 21-carat Tk2,449, 18-carat Tk2,111 per bhori, and traditional one is Tk1,586 per bhori.
